Facebook Messenger has expanded its video call service with the screen share feature, available for both Android and iOS devices, and also accessible via desktop apps and web version. This new screen feature works just like zoom as it allows you to instantly share your screen with friends and family, either one-on-one, with up to 8 people in a group call or with up to 16 people in Rooms.
Through the screen share feature, you can share a live view of whatever you’re doing with your loved ones. The company maintains that this provides better ways to engage and stay connected since majority of people still socialize virtually due to Covid-19.
When you initiate screen sharing, the other people on the video chat will be able to see a live view of whatever is on your phone screen. The video chat interface will move to the upper right hand corner of your phone, so you’ll still be able to see your friends on camera while you show them what’s on your phone.
Facebook also reveals its plan to expand the number of people you can share your screen with to 50. The company will also be adding control features for Room creators, with this, you’ll be able to limit the ability to screen share to just yourself or allow other participants to do the same.
