Access point name (APN) is a settings on your phone that is used to set up a connection to the gateway between a GSM, GPRS, 3G or 4G mobile network and another computer network, usually the public internet.

A mobile device must be configured to with an APN in order for the phone’s network operator to determine the correct network connection that should be used.
